Each year, the city of Durham, NC pulls all of the large equipment it owns out into the mall parking lot, and lets little kids climb up into them. Call it community outreach, or morale building, whatever it is, I love it. All these great big burly men, gently and gingerly putting kids up in the drivers seats of these machines, then showing them where the horn button is. Taxes well spent on this day.

If you’ve ever driven by the Duke Towers, you might find the architecture a bit brutal. I know it has zero curb appeal for me…but behold! On the inside, it’s 1971 (or thereabouts) forever…and pretty darn pleasant of a spring day…shuffleboard, anyone?
